This is the first of my monthly blogs.

I hope to keep everyone informed of upcoming events well in advance of time and have information in one easy to access place.

I will also add details to the calendar as they come to hand so keep checking back there regularly.

Events

Tuesday 4th February – 6x 4 holiday shots
This is the first night of the year and it is traditional to have a small competition, helps to get the creative photography juices flowing.
This competition is a 6 x 4 challenge, your 6 x 4 should be something you did/saw etc over the break. What you need to do to enter is, print up your favourite summer snap onto a 6 x 4. This can be done at one of the photo outlets, like Warehouse Stationery etc or at home on the printer – which ever works best for you. This competition is for 6 x 4 prints only, any other size will not be accepted. Then we will get all the members to have a vote on all the images and bang, you have won the first competition of the year.
The prize will be one of the much sort after, but rarely received RPS chocolate fish.

The committee will be kicking off the year with the first suitcase challenge – prompt “spoon”. We have only had one week to get this mission completed! I hope you all get involved in at least one of these this year as they are a lot of fun.

Ist Open competition closes Wednesday 19th February This will be judged 17th March. I am looking forwarding to seeing everyones first entries of the year!

Joke for the month

Peter and Lucifer were at the gates admiring the clouds when the subject got onto photography.
They couldn’t agree whether Heaven or Hell had the best photographers so they decided to arrange a photo contest.
St Peter rubbed his hands with glee and Lucifer demanded to know why he was looking so smug.
“Well,” said St Peter, “in Heaven we have all the best photographers”

Lucifer slowly raised his head, grinned and replied “Ah, but we have all the judges…”
