Don’t be shy July!!!

Hello everyone. Another blog to keep you informed.

The committee have met and we have re-jigged the programme a little for the remainder of the year. This has been unavoidable and hopefully we will have a full and fun second half to the year. The calendar has been updated and there is a new programme uploaded. For the updated programme look in ‘club documents’ under ‘resources’ tab.

Main changes:

  • AV and show time has been moved to Tuesday 1st September
  • Best field trip competition has been changed to Street photography
  • Local field trips and camera crafts have been added
  • Finals night will be a 75 Anniversary Gala

Also I would like to remind you to start putting some thought into the set subject and portfolio competitions.

Set subject– this year the theme for set subject is “singular”. There are no editing restrictions but the theme must be adhered to.

Port folio – a set of six images with a common theme. No editing restrictions. I think the hardest part is where to start. If you are struggling with this please ask a senior club member or get on Google for some inspiration. Good place to start would be – what do you like to take photos of? What type of photography is your favourite? Get out there and get shooting!

This evening we will also be giving out awards from previous competitions, the C grade confidence builder will be presented, online challenge (theme – confined) will be shown and also the lock down lens shots. These both close on 30 June so if you haven’t put in your entries there is still time!! We will be handing out chocolate fish so share your successes! Also the raffles are back up and running so bring your cash. This evening won’t be live streamed.

Saturday 11th – Astro shoot at Ashworths Beach

More details on time and place to meet to follow on this shortly.

Things to start thinking about getting ready are your camera, a fully charged battery and spare, memory card(s), what lenses you will need (wide angle), sturdy tripod, head lamp (one with red night vision light is ideal), chair and lots of warm clothing and a flask of something warm to drink maybe.
