Hope everyone has coped with daylight savings. Now that we are in level one I have my fingers crossed we stay that way and can meet normally this month.
Tuesday 6th – Club night Guest speaker
Clubrooms 7 pm start
Tonight we have Bevan Tullet speaking, check out his website http://www.gophoto.co.nz/ He is currently Chair of the Nature Society of NZ
His plan for the evening will be:
- photos of a selection of his best images and how he got them
- will cover Landscape and Natural History
- will cover a variety of subjects, including fungi, alpine plants, birds and where to find
- explain basic techniques and tips on lighting, camera settings, getting to know your subject
Wednesday 7th – Street photography closes
Time to hit the streets if you haven’t already. Get your entries in by 11.30 pm
From the club rules:
Street photography – features subjects in candid situations within public places, such as streets, parks, malls, etc, often caught at a decisive or poignant moment. No editing restrictions, however heavily edited images are not typical of the genre.
Wednesday 14th Camera craft – Nature: Taking Great Shots
We have our super talented, amazing Sandra Fleet presenting this evening
She will be covering:
- Settings
- Techniques
- What Can Possibly Go Wrong?
- As Henri Cartier-Bressen said, the first 10,000 photos are your worst
- I’m past 10,000 just with birds, how can they still be going wrong!!
- Hunting and Shooting
- RPS Rules for Natural History
Bring:
- Camera (with card and battery – in the past these have been forgotten by some!)
- Telephoto lens and macro/extension tubes
- Pen and paper
Pre-work:
It is a very full night, so come along with the familiarity of knowing how to quickly change settings for ISO, Shutter and Aperture. Using Auto ISO – find out where in your camera you go to you set the limit for your ISO range

Tuesday 20th – Judging set subject (Singular)
Clubrooms 7 pm start
Our judge this evening is Johannes Van Kan. This meeting will run as normal with supper and raffles. It will also be live-streamed. We are trying a new way this evening – using YouTube. To view go to RPS website ://rps.nz/ click on resources tab then on livestreams from the drop-down menu
