Thanks to those who have submitted theirs. This is your club so we want to hear from you!

Wednesday March 11th – Camera craftCropping workshop

Steven will be running this camera craft.

Why crop? Cropping unwanted content and focussing on the message. The first and most obvious reason to crop an image is to remove any unwanted background in the original. Cropping for composition. Cropping for impact. Cropping for emotion. Cropping for a story or context

Tuesday March 17th – Club meeting – Open competition judged

Not much to say here but looking forward to seeing all the amazing images.

Wednesday March 18th – Landscape closes

From the RPS Competition rules:

4.6 Landscape Portraying the beauty of the wider vista, including sky and seascapes. This can be natural or urban, unless expressly stated otherwise. Natural landscapes can contain people or buildings, etc, provided they are not the dominant feature. Urban landscapes would be a city/town/urban scene, with emphasis on structures or landscape rather than people. This can be a detail or wider shot. BASIC EDITING ONLY.

February recap

I was thrilled to see so many images submitted to the 6×4 comp on the first meeting of the year. I know I struggled to vote for just one. They were all amazing photos and you are all winners in my eyes for getting out there doing something you love and then sharing with everyone.

Daniel Wong spoke to us on 18 Feb club night. What a great night this was. He is very engaging and my evening flew by listening to him. Our Facebook page had members singing his praises. Check out his Facebook page if you haven’t done so yet.

Membership fees

Just a wee reminder if you haven’t already done so please don’t forget to pay your membership fees

Equipment amnesty

If you have any of the clubs equipment it is time to return this please as we are updating the inventory list. The clubs softbox has been MIA for a while now so please check your camera gear to see if you have anything. Please return equipment to any of the committee members

Time to start thinking about your submission for this

Tip of the month

I watch a lot of YouTube videos and I was watching one that had tips about sd cards. The tip that I liked best was to leave the sd card “door” open when you remove the card to upload your photos to your computer then you will be less likely to forget to replace it. This tip is working for me

Joke time

Two photographers are travelling through a third world country and pass by a beggar on the street. One of the photographers asks the other one:

“What did you give him?”

The other photographer replies:

“250th of a second at f/5.6.”

NOW SNAP TO IT!!!!!
