Washpen Falls.

Bring: Lunch to eat at the falls, a parka, stout footwear, camera and tripod.

Located near Windwhistle at 590 Washpen Road, and just over an hour from Rangiora, this hidden gem is described on its website as ‘a pocket of paradise where moa once roamed’.  It is a conservation project that started 80 million years ago with a major volcanic blow.

Note: Washpen Road is a large loop road; as you head South on SH77 take the second entry on to Washpen Road where the entrance to Washpen Falls is only a few hundred metres along.
