The Rangiora Photographic Society was formed in 1945 by a small group of enthusiastic people with a common interest in photography and a desire to share their knowledge and experience – an ethos that continues to underpin the Society’s values.
Today, RPS has a thriving membership of well over 100 photographers covering a wide range of ages, photographic skills, and preferences. People join RPS for more than a common interest in photography; but also to learn, have adventures, and enjoy the fellowship that the Society
is well known for.
There are many reasons for RPS’s success, including a dynamic programme of relevant and engaging speakers, exciting field trips, challenging competitions, tutorials, and workshops covering a wide range of topics. But possibly the single biggest factor in our success is the members themselves. RPS members are known as ‘the lively bunch’ – full of energy, fun, and a passion for photography that is so infectious that it is sought out by people from all over the North Canterbury region, as well as Christchurch.
The Society is privileged to have Andris Apse and David Wethey as its Patrons, two photographers who arguably lead their respective fields in New Zealand.
Our Vision statement : Fun, Friendship, Photography.
